Course Overview

Building the Foundations for Computing

The Foundation Year offers you the chance to develop essential academic and employability skills while introducing you to key concepts in computing. This initial stage sets the groundwork for further studies, helping you build the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in higher education and future tech roles.

Mastering Core Concepts in Technology, Software, and Data

In the second year of study, you will focus on interpreting and evaluating data within the realms of computing and IT. You’ll learn fundamental theories and concepts, applying them to make informed decisions and assess problem-solving approaches in the key areas of Technology, Software, and Data.

Applying Computing Skills in Business and Industry

As you advance to the next level, your understanding of computer science principles deepens, with a focus on applying techniques in real-world business and industry settings. A key component will be an industry-related project where you can demonstrate your knowledge and refine your communication skills by presenting findings to a diverse audience.

Solving Real-World Problems Through Technology, Software, and Data

In your final year, you will dive deeper into the themes of Technology, Software, and Data, solving complex problems across different sectors like business, industry, and commerce. The culmination of your studies will be a comprehensive project aligned with one of these core themes, showcasing your critical thinking, problem-solving, and technical abilities in addressing real-world challenges.

"I really appreciated how the Computing course broke down complex topics into manageable lessons, making it easy to grasp and apply in hands-on projects."

Course Modules

Assessment in this course is designed to provide a comprehensive framework for students to demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and competencies crucial for success in computing management. The assessment methods encompass a variety of approaches to cater to different learning styles and ensure a thorough evaluation of your capabilities. These include essays, reports, real-life simulations, presentations, projects, and group debates, all of which are structured to engage you in practical and theoretical application of computing concepts.

You will be expected to manage your own time effectively, completing research, homework tasks, and engaging in group work. Self-study plays a significant role in achieving success throughout the course, as it helps reinforce what you learn and allows you to further explore concepts. Throughout your study, you will receive guidance on how to approach tasks, ensuring you develop effective time-management and research strategies.

Assessment methods will be regularly reviewed and refined to ensure they remain relevant and up to date with advancements in the field.
